Black Caviar Lightning

Flemington was rated a Good 4 on Thursday morning for a top day of racing this Saturday headlined by the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning. There's some patchy rain expected between now and when they jump, but it's not expected to impact the track too much.

The Black Caviar Lightning is a sprint down the Flemington straight over 1000m under weight-for-age conditions. It's a top contest with the upcoming stars taking on the seasoned sprint champions. Who wins?

Exosphere comes off some cracking trial form including a smart second over 804m on February 9 when he closed nicely to finish a nose behind Terra Vista. Won well first-up last preparation, easily winning against his own age. Weight-for-age here looks ideal and should be very hard to beat.

Chautauqua has an impeccable first-up record 4-1-0 from five starts. Won his only start down the Flemginton straight and deserves a lot of respect as Australia's champion sprinter. Can't fault this superstar.

Delectation beat Chautauqua last start before spelling and ran a close second to him earlier in that preparation in the Gilgai. Trialled against him on February 12 where he ran neck and neck and looked slightly the stronger over the final 50m. Value?

Terravista is another superstar sprinter resuming here. Won fresh last prep then finished a nose behind Delectation before spelling with a forgive run in between. Good trials and his strong turn of foot should serve him well over the 1000m.

Japonisme beat Exosphere in the Coolmore before spelling last preparation. Solid performer with some good trials under his belt. Consider.

Kinglike has also trialled well and won a G2 against his own age first-up last preparation.

Van Pensiero hasn't won for a while but showing promise this time around with some good trials.

Tough race to judge with 4 outstanding sprinters lining up.

1st Chautauqua. Staying with the seasoned champion here but only just.

2nd Exosphere

3rd Delectation
