Sandown Hillside was rated a Good 3 on Friday morning and with only sunshine in the forecast over the weekend, it's likely to stay that way. The 2400m gives runners the length of the straight before the first turn. Dandino is scratched leaving seven runners to contest the $300,000 prize money.
Rising Romance looks well suited to this track and distance. Coming off a strong second in the McKinnon after a reasonably honest preparation looks like she will relish the distance and Sandown should suit her to a tee. A win and 2 seconds from 4 starts this distance. She will be hard to beat.
Tall Ship looks to be working up nicely to this distance. Last two runs in particular have shown that he is looking for longer. He is 2 from 2 this distance and trained by Darren Weir.
Who Shot The Barman returns after being beaten 4 lengths in the Cup where he struck trouble in the run home. Tend to like him over longer but he is a genuine 2400m chance in this race.
Kirramosa has solid claims on the back of her Bendigo Cup run where she finished 0.9 lengths third behind The Offer. Should strip fitter from that run so worth a watch.
Sertorius ran okay in the Cup finishing mid-field. Has won 2 from 6 this distance but seems to race better over longer. Has an easier task here though. In the mix.
Don Doremo has mixed his form a bit this preparation. Some excuses in the Geelong Cup before a reasonable effort on Stakes Day. Weight-for-age now.
Do You Remember made a reasonable return after a long lay-off. Some chance in a small field.
1st Rising Romance is a stand-out in this race. Short but very hard to beat
2nd Kirramosa.
3rd Who Shot The Barman
