Doomben 10000 2016 race preview

27 May 2016 10:41 AM

Doomben's surface was rated a Good 4 on Thursday morning and should stay that way with sunshine forecasted through the weekend.

Race seven on the program is the Group 1 Doomben 10000 run under weight-for-age conditions over 1350m.

Who can forget the late Boban's run from near the back of the field last year, finishing too strongly for Charlie Boy to win by a short neck.

Betting Odds Doomben 10000

Azkadellia comes off a big autumn carnival highlighted by her third 2.2 lengths behind Winx in the Doncaster and then going on to win the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf. Comes back in distance after a 48 day lay off. Fresh form is solid and rates highly.

Fell Swoop. Last run was very good when finishing 1.6 lengths behind Malaguerra in the BTC Cup after racing wide with no cover for a good part of the journey. Should be fine with the extra distance on that run. Chance.

Delectation was another making a late run in the BTC from the back of the field. Met some interference and still finished 2.4 lengths away from the winner. Hasn't won beyond 1200m but should get it on his last performance.

Dothraki looked the winner last week but couldn't quite get there. Ran very well as a three-year-old over or near to this distance. Looks like he will relish it.

Music Magnate comes off two solid efforts this preparation. Last start second in the Luskin Star was good. Before that won the G3 Hall Mark. Weight for age will be an interesting test. Chance.

Charlie Boy started off well this preparation but his last two runs have been less than satisfactory. Not sure if he is going well enough this year.

Two Blue looks the obvious leader in this. Was good in front in the BTC last start. Prefers the sting out of the ground to show his best. Some chance on a dry track.

Hooked resumes after a mixed Spring. Started in cracking fashion when he led all the way in the G2 Tramway then didn't fire in his three runs after that. Finished second in two trials leading up to this. Market may be the best guide.

Scarlet Billows had excuses last start in the G1 Sangster after receiving interference from a riderless horse. Two good runs fresh leading up to his win at Caulfield two starts back. Value.

Divine Centuri. Has excelled against her own age. Faces a tougher lot here and will attempt to win beyond 1200m for the first time.

1st Dothraki can go one better this week and looks great value at $7.

2nd Azkadellia

3rd Delectation
