Sangster Stakes 2015 race review

There are four Group races at Morphetville tomorrow including two Group 1 races, a Group 2 and 3 race. The track is currently rated a Good (4) and with only sunshine on the way, you can bet on a good track on Saturday too. Race 7 on the program is the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes run over 1200m under weight-for-age conditions for fillies and mares. It's a good betting race with 17 runners and the market set at $5 the field.
Challenge Stakes winner Miracles Of Life opens up equal favourite with the bookies at $5. She looks to have everything going her way in this. Great win first-up followed by a strong run that was better than the 2.4 lengths third to Sweet Idea looks on paper.
Equal favourite currently is Vain Queen who has good speed from the wide barrier and 300m till the first turn to get a nice settling position forward in the field. Her last start third to Lucky Hussler where she took on the boys rates very well.
This will be a good test for Avoid Lightning after performing well in the Group 2 Saphire last start on a wet track but no so first-up when she was 6 lengths behind the winner. Not sure if she is up to some of these on a dry track.
Politeness is likely to find herself at the back of the field with a wide barrier and relatively slow early speed. She got back last start and motored home to win at Caulfield however the opposition is a little better here.
Platelet didn't seem to handle the wet track last start. This lot are smarter so if that isn't the excuse she is likely to struggle here. Definitely can figure on her best form though.
Gregers seems to have come back nicely this preparation. She gets big weight relief from her last start when she finished third in a Listed race behind Politeness.
Expect Sabatini to be sitting somewhere around midfield in the running from barrier 10 with moderate speed out of the barriers. She is an honest filly with each of her four runs this preparation solid. She should be burning up ground in the dying stages here.
Tycoon Tara is in sizzling form this preparation. This is a little tougher but it looks like she is ready to step up.
Other chances include Wawail who was impressive last run when she chased Fontein Ruby home. I also give Scarlet Billows a chance. She clearly didn't handle the conditions last start and seemed to be working up to bigger and better things in this preparation prior to that run.
I really like the chances of Vain Queen in this race. I think she is going to get a nice position in the race to set herself up for a big finish. Wawail in for second at nice odds and Miracles Of Life for third.
I ran these three selections through the multiple bet calculator that I wrote about yesterday. At these odds you can outlay $100 to make $117.95 profit if one of the three win by placing the following bets.
- $43.59 the win on Miracles Of Life
- $43.59 the win on Vain Queen
- $12.82 on Wawail
